The Angelus by Millet Bronzed Bookends
Great pair of cast metal bookends depicting The Angelus a painting by Jean-Francois Millet. Millet's classic depiction of humility and devotion shows two peasants, pausing from their work in the fields to pray to God. Their prayer is prompted by the tolling of the bell from the church background center. Bronzed finish with burnished highlights. Marked Angelus at the base. Each one of the pair measures 4-1/2 x 2 1/4 x 4-1/4 inches. Excellent condition. No felt on bottom. Lovely for your library.
