Vintage Dishcloth Kitchen Britches

These little britches were a popular wedding shower gift in the 1950's.
Made of 2 waffle-weave dish cloths from the Dime Store, these were made into kitchen britches by adding removable ribbon laces and trim.
This pair of pantaloons or bloomers has vertical pink and aqua blue stripes with white and is trimmed with golden satin ribbons. Clean, with no stains. Unused.
Measures 12" x 13".
They often came with a poem:
“ Don't get excited, Don't misunderstand:
These are not for you, But for your dishpan.
Clip the ribbon, Pull out the stitches;
Now you have two dishcloths,
But you've lost your britches.”
Cute kitschy kitchen décor.
