Irish Roses Pink Green White Handmade Crochet Bedspread
Beautiful bedspread skillfully hand crocheted with pink roses, green leaves and white squares alternating with all white squares, trimmed in white self fringe hand knotted on three sides. All cotton thread. In excellent vintage condition with no obvious flaws I can find. As is so often the case, some of the squares at the top edge were made with a different batch of thread, and these have aged to ecru. Measures 65" wide by 105" length with additional 5" fringe on three sides. Clean and washed. A gorgeous spread or coverlet for your romantic, country, cottage chic or Victorian style decor or a gardener or lover of roses. Darling for a little girl's bedroom. A bit of history on this pattern: The most recognizable motif in Irish crochet is the Irish Rose. The rose has many variations and no one knows which rose pattern was the original that became the hallmark of Irish crochet. Each region of the world has its own variation of the rose pattern. Since these patterns were passed down verbally, every rose is unique. Roses can be small or large depending on how many layers of petals are worked. A beauty!
