These are nicely made cloth dolls with nut heads that have some age to them. They were made probably around the 1940's, judging from the age of the materials. They are made to look like an old couple. The nuts have been painted white and features have been painted for the eyes, eye brows and mouth. Some wire has been twisted for glasses. The woman has a black bonnet, black dress (some shredding in back), white apron, plaid shawl, black pants under dress, and black boots. She carries an acorn basket filled with paper. Her hair is white mohair. The man is dressed in overalls of blue jean material, paid shirt, red scarf, black wool felt hat and tall black boots. His hair and beard are made from cotton batting. I love the "pockets" in his pants. They are very cleverly made dolls and definitely one of a kind.
