This is from my own collection of portrait miniatures. This piece was painted by Perpete Evrard. Permeate Evrard (1662-1727) was a Flemish painter of portraits and miniatures, born at Dinant employed at several foreign courts. He died at the Hague in 1727. This piece is thought to be done around 1714 of a gentleman in armor with breastplate. It is watercolor on vellum in a silver pendant with a paper backing. It measures 1 1/4" tall with the loop and 7/8" wide. The painting is very delicate and beautifully done. I love the detail of the hair and the cravat. At the bottom you can see his armor.
