Offered is a complete set of the highly desirable and collectible Noritake #175 Christmas Ball Demitasse set made in Japan.
The set consists of six cups and saucers, the coffee/chocolate/tea pot, and the cream and sugar bowls. With the tops for
the coffee pot and creamer, the total number of pieces in the set are 17. The pot is 6.5"tall, the sugar bowl is 2.75" in height
and the creamer is 2.5". The cups are 2" tall and the saucers are 4" wide. This hand painted set has a white background,
with a yellow border and gold gilt 24k enameling in an elegant scrolling pattern. It is reported that most of the earlier sets
were also made by hand. As viewed in the photos, this set has the green mark/seal, indicating that it was made between
1906 - 1940. The 'M' in the wreath stands for the Morimura Brothers, a New York distributing company. All the pieces in
this set have this mark except for the saucers. They are unmarked.
The set is in excellent condition with no chips, nicks or damage. There are slight variations in shape and texture as these were all hand painted and probably hand made pieces. The Christmas Ball pattern has been described as one of the most beautiful ever created. It's raised gold encrusted scrolls are beautifully done. This is a rare complete undamaged set and is highly collectible. Perfect for those who love to entertain, for special occasions or for Noritake/ Christmas Ball collectors.
