Georg Fischer Nuremberg, Germany Ca 1920 lithographed tin penny toy open touring car with driver uniformed in orange and red. Automobile has dark blue exterior with red and gray trim, red interior, gray spoke wheels and gray folded fan top. The seam edge where the hood pieces overlap in front of the driver doesn't lay completely flat, but this appears to be a manufacturing flaw and isn't overt. There is a small split in the dash to the driver's left, as shown, and looking the piece over with a loupe I also found a very slight crease in one passenger door. A few minor scuffs and losses, but overall the piece is in excellent condition. It rolls very well and tried to motor away from me several times after I'd pick it up and set it down again while examining or measuring as I wrote this description.
4 3/8 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, 1 7/16 inches tall; vehicle is marked 'Made in Germany' behind a rear wheel.
This toy was in an extensive grouping of old Christmas ornaments, with other tin and wooden miniatures used for holiday display, not play. I'll be listing additional pieces from the group in the next few weeks, so be sure to subscribe to my shop to receive quick alerts when they appear.
