Ca 1929 green Depression era glass ashtray with central holder for a matchbook. Flat rim with checkerboard pattern, bottom decoration of multiple rays. Has the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company 'H over A' mark on bottom. Excellent condition but does have a straw mark (manufacturing flaw) inside, just under the rim. Measures 3 7/8 inches across top, 3/4 inch tall.
Due to the chemistry of the glass formula used to make this glassware it fluoresces under black-light, as shown. When many pieces are lit up in this way in a showcase or china cabinet it can make for a dramatic display .
Uncommon antiques for the investor and choice collectibles for the clever collector.
