Antique Sterling Art Institute Chicago Estate Spoon - Souvenir of Illinois
What a gorgeous antique Victorian or Edwardian era spoon! It is made of sterling silver and has a detailed design in the bowl which reads ART INSTITUTE, CHICAGO. The front of the handle has scenes of the Auditorium, the Masonic Temple and the Douglass Monument and the back shows Fort Dearborn and stalks of corn. The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 3/8" long by 1 1/8" across the bowl. The weight is about 19.5 grams. It is signed with the maker's mark of the initial H in a pennant which according to what I've read is the mark of Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of Watson & Newell Co. and also marked STERLING. Good antique condition with light age appropriate wear. Perfect for the Illinois state collector or the art lover! You will treasure this!!!
