Antique Whiting Sterling Griffin Spoon - Arabesque Pattern 6 7/8"
This gorgeous estate Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver. The handle has a winged lion griffin design and this pattern is called Arabesque. It is monogrammed with the engraved fancy initial M. The spoon measures about 6 7/8" long by 1 3/8" across the bowl. It is signed with the maker's mark of WHITING and also marked STERLING - PAT. 1875 and N. HARDING probably the retailer who sold it. The weight is about 35.9 grams. This could be used for serving smaller things like berries or dessert, or possibly for eating soup if you like a bigger spoon. Good antique condition with a very tiny spot of roughness in the bowl. The sterling has a nice warm uneven patina (tarnish) that we have left untouched. You will treasure this!!!
