Art Deco Enamel Dance Estate Necessaire Compact
This fabulous Art Deco era makeup compact has a beautiful guilloche enamel floral design on the front in colors of pink, green, blue and silvery white. The metalwork has an engine turning design and is in contrasting colors of gold and silver. This has a chain, so you can carry it like a purse. On the inside, there is a place for powder, rouge and lipstick. The compact measures just shy of 3" high by about 2" across by slightly over 3/4" at the sides. The length of the chain doubled is about 5 1/2" long (as you would carry it). Good vintage condition with age appropriate wear including some wear and darkening to the metalwork especially around the enamel plaque as seen, typical expected ageing to the mirror, and soiling to the puffs. A couple of interesting thing to note - the lipstick tube is hinged into the compact on the side near the edge, and there is a round piece of glass inside where the powder would be. Looks to be original, but I don't know what the purpose would have been. The compact opens well and closes with a snap. The enamel is in very good condition. This is a great piece and about 80 to 90 years old. You will love this!!!
