Antique Whiting Sterling Fancy Estate Fork - Adam 1907
This gorgeous American antique fork is made of sterling silver with a beautiful pattern on the handle. Thanks to a knowledgeable fellow Ruby Laner, I now know this pattern is called Adam. It is engraved with the fancy initial C. Looks like it originally had a gold wash on the tine part. The fork measures about 6 1/4" long by slightly over 15/16" at the the tines. It is signed with a maker's mark of a griffin or winged lion with the initial W and also marked STERLING which is the mark of WHITING MANUFACTURING CO. which became a part of Gorham in 1926. The weight is about 29.3 grams. Good antique condition with light age wear. It has a nice warm uneven patina (tarnish) that we have left untouched. The tines look a little different for a dinner fork, so it may be a serving fork, or it could be a dinner fork. I think this would be good for serving cheese or cold meat - maybe even relish or pickles. You will treasure this!!!
