Antique Buckskin Charley Sterling Estate Souvenir Spoon
This gorgeous antique Victorian or Edwardian era spoon is made of sterling silver. On the handle, it has a detailed Native American Indian Chief's head and reads BUCKSKIN CHARLEY who is also referred to as Buckskin Charlie. Buckskin Charley was the leader of the Southern Ute tribe from 1880 - 1936. He was give the Rutherford Hayes Indian Peace Prize by President Benjamin Harrison and also rode with Geronimo in Theodore Roosevelt's 1905 Inaugural parade. The spoon is engraved DENVER in the bowl. The spoon measures about 4 3/8" long by 13/16" across the bowl. It is signed with the maker's mark of the initial H inside a circle and marked STERLING. The marks are partial as shown. It weighs about 10.2 grams. Good antique condition with light age wear. Perfect for the Colorado or the Indian spoon collector. You will treasure this!!!
