Antique Sterling & Enamel Engraved Hamilton Estate Souvenir Spoon
This gorgeous antique sterling silver souvenir spoon was made at the turn of last century just as the Victorian era was ending and giving way to the Edwardian era. This is a very interesting spoon. It is enameled on the top of the handle which reads Honi soit qui mal y pense in French - which translates "Shame on him who thinks evil of it". It surrounds the British Royal coat of arms. There is a rampant lion on one side and a horse on the other. The front side of the bowl is engraved HAMILTON. The back side of the bowl is engraved Juliette Emelie Bray nee le 26 Avril 1900 The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 1/4" long by slightly over 1 1/16" across the bowl. The weight is about 18.7 grams. It is marked STERLING and also has a tiny maker's mark. Good antique condition with loss to the enamel on the oak leaves and a light dent to the bowl. The spoon has a nice warm patina (tarnish) and we haven't polished it. You will treasure this!!!
