Antique Sterling Cotton Picker Paye & Baker Estate Spoon
What a great Black Americana Negro souvenir spoon! It is made of sterling silver and the bowl reads COTTON PICKER with the design of an African American carrying a basket of cotton on his back or shoulder. The handle reads - Union Justice - Confidence - Louisiana. It has the justice scales, a pelican bird which is the mascot of New Orleans, and an alligator. The spoon is a demitasse size and measures about 4" long by just shy of 7/8" across the bowl. Signed with the PAYE & BAKER maker's mark of the initials P & B inside hearts and also marked STERLING. The weight is about 6.4 grams. Good antique condition with light age appropriate wear. We would estimate this is Edwardian era. You will treasure this!!!
