Antique Sterling Dewey US Asiatic Squadron Estate Souvenir Spoon
This gorgeous antique late Victorian to Edwardian era spoon is made of sterling silver. It depicts Admiral Dewey and commemorates the Battle of Manila May 1st 1898. Dewey is best known for this victory during the Spanish-American War. The bowl has an elaborate battleship scene and reads - U.S. Asiatic Squadron - McCollough - Petrel - Raleigh - Olympia - Baltimore - Boston - Concord - Victorious in the Philippines. It is a demitasse sized spoon and measures about 3 15/16" long by just shy of 7/8" across the bowl. Marked STERLING and also has the maker's hallmark of Alvin. Good antique condition with light age wear. Perfect for the history buff. You will treasure this!!!
