Huge Fraternal Order of Eagles Antique Enamel Medal Badge Pin
This is a grand antique estate post Edwardian era medal or badge pin! On the top is a majestic bald eagle with wings outstretched perched atop two crossed American flags. It reads Aerie Raymond 1631. Next is a log, then the bottom part reads FOE - STATE GRAND AERIE OF EAGLES - 1913. The United States flags and the letters FOE are enameled in colors of red, white and blue, and there is a linear pattern underneath the red enameling. Please note that the enamel on the FOE looks brighter in the photos than in person - in person, it looks to be only slightly brighter than the enamel in the flags. This is a large badge, measuring about 3 5/8" by 1 7/8". Just imagine the reaction you'll get when you walk into your next meeting or event wearing this! Signed JOS. MAYER & BROS. - MAKERS - SEATTLE WN. Joseph Mayer Brothers was a very good maker. Good antique condition with a dark patina as shown. It looks like this was originally silver plated and now shows wear to mostly brass. The enamel is in very good condition for the age - there is surface roughness to the blue field of the flag on the right side (no loss of color) and a few tiny irregularities that were in the making. This is an excellent piece of history. Great to wear as a badge for a man - or as a brooch for a lady. Please feel free to email us with offers and any questions you may have. You will love this!!!
