Antique Sterling Apostle or Wise Man William Devenport Spoon
What a wonderful antique circa 1900 - 1901 sterling silver estate spoon! It has a beautiful shell bowl with a figural Apostle or wise man on the top of the handle. Made at the turn of last century, at the tail end of the Victorian era - right on the cusp of the Edwardian era. It is a demitasse size and measure about 4" long by about 7/8" across the bowl. Signed with the initials WD for WILLIAM DEVENPORT and also mark with the hallmarks of anchor - for Birmingham, lion for sterling and small letter a for the date. Good antique condition and we haven't polished it. The hallmarks show a little in the bowl which was in the making. This would be an awesome spoon to use for jam, jelly, sugar, or stirring your little cup of coffee or tea. Good to display too. You will treasure this!!!
