Antique 1904 Signed Sterling Large Estate Fancy Serving Fork
This gorgeous antique Edwardian era large serving fork is made of sterling silver. It is engraved with a fancy initial on the handle - I think it is an M. On the back of the handle, it is engraved with the date Sept. 29th, 1904. The fork measures about 7 1/2" long by about 1 5/8" across the tines. The weight is about 47.4 grams. It is signed with the maker's mark of the initial H in a pennant which according to what I've read is the mark of Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of Watson & Newell Co. and also marked STERLING. They produced sterling flatware, souvenir spoons, holloware, vanity items and novelties. Good antique condition with light age wear. It has a dark uneven patina (tarnish) that we have left untouched.
