Antique Sterling FURNITURE CITY Spoon - Souvenir of Grand Rapid Michigan - Shepard Manufacturing Co Signed
This antique Victorian or Edwardian era spoon is made of sterling silver with a detailed bowl which reads FURNITURE CITY. Grand Rapids got the nickname "Furniture City" after displaying products in an International exhibit in Philadelphia in 1876. The front of the handle reads GRAND RAPIDS and has the Soldiers Home, Masonic Home and City Hall. The back of the handle has Ryerson Library and The Rapids. The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 3/4" long by 1 3/16" across the bowl. The weight is about 27 grams. Signed with the initial S inside a circle which is the mark of American maker SHEPARD MANUFACTURING CO. and also marked STERLING and J.C. HERKNER CO. Good antique condition with light age appropriate wear including a tiny dimple to the edge of the bowl. You will treasure this!!!
