Antique STERLING & ENAMEL Gremlin or Devil Face Victorian Spoon - Engraved Joplin
This gorgeous Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver with a gold wash. It is enameled in colors of aqua, rust red, green and blue. Best of all, it has a gremlin or devil face on the handle. It is engraved JOPLIN in the bowl. There is a Joplin in Missouri, Arkansas, Montana, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Let this spoon remind you of your favorite one! The spoon is a demitasse size and measures about 4 3/16" long by 13/16" across the bowl. It is signed with the maker's mark of WENDELL MFG. CO which is the initial W flanked by two lions and is also numbered 18. The weight is about 13.2 grams. Good antique condition with light age appropriate wear including some wear to the gold wash, showing the sterling beneath. The enamel is in good condition with only a tiny bit of loss noted with a jeweler's loupe. This is perfect for serving a little sugar or for stirring your coffee, You will love this!!!
