Fabulous STERLING & ENAMEL Spoon Set in Box - Birmingham England Circa 1963
What a fabulous English vintage sterling silver souvenir spoon set! They are enameled with flowers that represent the countries that are in the bowls. The shamrock or clover spoon reads IRELAND (the letters are partial on Ireland) - the Tudor Rose spoon reads ENGLAND - the daffodil spoon reads WALES - and the Scottish thistle spoon reads SCOTLAND. The spoons are a demitasse size and vary slightly in length, and the longest one measures about 3 7/8" long and the shortest, just shy of 3 3/4" long - all measure slightly over 3/4" across the bowl. They all have the same hallmarks - the anchor city mark of BIRMINGHAM - the lion passant for STERLING - and the date mark of a slanted O for the year 1963. Also signed T & S for TURNER & SIMPSON and marked MADE IN ENGLAND. Good vintage condition with light age wear. The enamel is in good vintage condition with light age wear including a few tiny nicks and scratches. There is also a tiny irregularity in the enamel on one of the leaves of the daffodil that looks to have been in the making. The box shows a lot of vintage wear. The total combined weight of the spoons is about 46.5 grams. We haven't polished them and they have a nice spotty uneven patina (tarnish). You will love this gorgeous set!!!
