Antique Sterling ILLINOIS Estate Spoon - Teaspoon Size
What a gorgeous antique Victorian or Edwardian era spoon! It is made of sterling silver and has a detailed designs on the front and back of the handle. The front of the handle reads ILLINOIS and has the Illinois State seal, stalks of corn and a tall tree. The back of the spoon shows scenes of the State Capitol, Fort Dearborn and the Sailors Monument. The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 3/4" long by almost 1 1/4" across the bowl. The weight is about 30.5 grams. It is signed with the maker's mark of the initial H in a pennant which according to what I've read is the mark of Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of Watson & Newell Co. and also marked STERLING. Good antique condition with light age appropriate wear. Perfect for the Illinois state collector! You will treasure this!!!
