Antique 1891 Sterling SAN FRANCISCO Estate Spoon - Souvenir of California - Victorian
This gorgeous antique Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver. The front of the handle has the seal of San Francisco including a miner and sailor at the top and below the seal, a pickaxe and shovel. The spoon is a demitasse size and measures about 4 1/4" long by 7/8" across the bowl. Signed with the maker's mark of a fancy initial D which is one of the marks of Wm. B Durgin Co (which later became a part of Gorham) and also marked STERLING PAT. APD. FOR. It is also marked HAMMERSMITH & FIELD which is probably the retailed who originally sold this. Best of all, the back of the handle is engraved with the date of 1891 and initials RH and I'm not sure what the last initial is, maybe an L S or T. The weight is about 9.4 grams. Good antique condition with light age wear. You will love this!!!
