Antique Sterling WHITING ARABESQUE Spoon - Souvenir of Belleville - Engraved Adele - Victorian
This gorgeous estate Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver. The handle has a winged lion griffin design and this pattern is called Arabesque. The bowl is etched with BELLEVILLE APRIL 25 - 1893. There are several places in the United States named Belleville, the largest being in Illinois. Also a few abroad. Let this remind you of your favorite one! The handle is engraved with the name ADELE. The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 5/16" long by slightly over 1 1/16" across the bowl. It is signed with the maker's mark of WHITING MFG CO and also marked STERLING - PAT. 1875 (Marks are partial as seen). The weight is about 15.7 grams. Good antique condition with age appropriate wear as seen. The sterling has a dark warm uneven patina (tarnish) that we have left untouched. You will treasure this!!!
