Antique Sterling LINCOLN HOME Gorham Spoon - Souvenir of Springfield Illinois
This gorgeous Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver. The bowl reads NATIONAL LINCOLN MONUMENT. The handle has a design of Lincoln's Home which is in Springfield, Illinois, The spoon is a teaspoon size and measures about 5 3/4" long by 1 3/16" across the bowl. Signed with the lion, anchor and fancy G mark of GORHAM and also marked STERLING and SOMMER & PIERIK. The weight is about 30 grams. The sterling shows lots of smoothing from years and years of loving use - it is obvious that this spoon was someone's favorite and used daily. The handle was reinforced on the back at some point, although I looked at the front of the handle and I don't see a break. You will treasure this!!!
