1897 Antique St Paul's Chapel Church Spoon - Souvenir of New York
This gorgeous antique Victorian era spoon is made of sterling silver. It has a detailed hand engraved design of St. Paul's Chapel in the bowl and reads - ST. PAUL'S KIRCHE. What makes this extra special is that the handle is engraved with the date 1897 and the back of the handle is engraved RUTH. Looking at photos, I believe this is the old St. Paul's chapel in Manhattan, New York. It is a teaspoon sized spoon and measures about 5 3/8" long by 1 1/8" across the bowl. The weight is about 14.4 grams. Signed with the initial H inside a pennant which according to what I've read is the mark of Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of Watson & Newell Co. and also marked STERLING. Good antique condition with a little wear/bending at one edge as seen. You will love this!!!
