Handmade from Antique Coins 800 Silver Spoon - Souvenir of Mexico
This is without a doubt one of the coolest spoons we have ever offered! It was hand made of silver using real coins that were made in Mexico during the Victorian era. The dates of the coins are 1881, 1892, and 1896. The Mexican coins have the majestic eagle with the snake design on the front. The coin in the handle has a cut out design which was done by hand. The spoon measures about 5 1/8" long by slightly over 15/16" across the bowl. Tests to be 800 silver (by comparison, 925 is sterling silver). The weight is about 14.2 grams. The spoon is in good vintage condition with light age wear and a little bit of irregularity which was in the making and there is a little roughness to the back of the cut out coin which was in the making. I have no way of knowing when the spoon was made...my feeling it that it was probably made in the 1930s - 1940s, but it may have been made before or after that. You will treasure this!!!
