Antique Sterling CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY Spoon - Signed Mechanics / Watson - Souvenir of Illinois
This gorgeous antique Victorian or Edwardian era spoon is made of sterling silver and has a detailed design of PUBLIC LIBRARY CHICAGO in the bowl. On the front of the handle, there is a Native American Indian Chief and it reads CHICAGO. It is a smaller spoon and measures about 3 3/4" long by about 3/4" wide across the bowl. Signed with the initial H inside a pennant which according to what I've read is the mark of Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of Watson & Newell Co. and also marked STERLING. The weight is about 9 grams. Very good antique condition. The sterling has a dark warm patina (tarnish) that we have left untouched. You will love it!!!
