I am so pleased to be able to offer this beautiful pendant/chain necklace in sterling silver and alexandrite, circa 1950s, and in the form of a very ornate cross, embellished with roses and beads with a pretty prong set stone. The pendant comes with a newer sterling silver snake chain that closes with a spring ring clasp. The chain is prettily embossed with hearts and "I love you" with a repeated pattern. Truly beautiful!
Stones called "Mexican Alexandrites" are sometimes lab created or natural, but most often they are what is known as "color change Corundum" which is lab created; rubies and sapphires are also of the Corundum family of gems and this gem tests in the ruby/sapphire range. Color change Corundum is as hard as a diamond and as you hold this item in different lights, you can see many different colors, but the primary color is purple like an amethyst and in most lighting these stones are a light to medium purple with pink and blue highlights.
