.....purer than silver......

This is a set of four 980 silver (purer than sterling) placecard holders and I am attributing this to isidro Garcia Pina who marked his items under his trade name of "Maricela". The attribution is because the design is just like Maricela's and the hallmark on the pieces of "Taxco" has a long bar over the T which is the secondary mark used by Maricela. The placecard holders are quite well done with lots of detail. Ready for your table! Circa 1940s.

According to Hougart's book, in 1943, Isidro Garcia Pina named his new taller after his daughter Maricela and most of his work was executed in 950 silver. Pina apprenticed with Damaso Gallegos, another well known Taxco artisan.

Hallmark: Taxco 980

Size: Each: 1 1/4" high x 2" long; Grams for the Set: 50

Condition: Excellent vintage - I have only lightly buffed, you may wish to polish more
