I am so pleased to offer you this pair of sterling silver earrings by William Spratling. The earrings are nicely dangling pitchers, like typical Mexican pottery, and are documented by Phyllis Goddard in her catalog of Spratling works as AR-12 and can be seen on the spratlingsilver website. The earrings close with well working screwbacks and date to about 1943. Very nice!
Spratling went to Taxco, Mexico in the 1920's and was the force behind the silver renaissance in the town. His history is long and interesting and he is featured in many, if not most, books that focus on silver jewelry. Anything by Spratling is a true collector piece, his work is housed in many museums.
