Charming French Faience Veuve Perrin Box with a deep, rich tin-glazed in perfect condition .. looks new/unused with typical spots of faience .. Beautiful painting of flowers in the 'petit - feu' technique where firing was at a lower temperature thus enabling unusual colours This pink colour may be called cassius .= gold mixed with purple..( not certain). measures 4 1/4" x 3" x 2 1/8" high. Lovely clam- shell clasp and intricate border mounts in bronze(?).. Very rococo design .. Marked VP with "France" added at a later date for in was engraved into the glaze; finely done, though an addition. so I think this is of an early date.. 1800's or late 1700s..originally without 'France'. A French antique dealer said that the metal mounts are called "gent" in French 950 sterling silver with 5% copper or other metals added..
