Rare Antique Choisy Le Roy Porcelain enameled box with exquisite, intricate gold gilt raised designs and designs of a shell motifs with delicately painted flowers, applied by a one bristle brush with Lovers on top lid in a garden setting with the young man playing bag pipes and the young woman with a basket at her side.. The shape has 10 vertical flutes with a ridge at the bottom adding more sculptural effects that makes the box resonate with light, then add to these effects/designs the interior base is painted , which appears to be, real gold paint.. the mounts seemed to be bronze / brass ( too dense to be only brass).. In perfect condition.. a little gem.. measures 3" wide x 2 1/2" deep x 1 1/2" high.....
Choisy Le Roy was founded in 1725 by M. Clement who established his factory near Paris. In 1866 or so Meissen submitted a formal complaint and Choisy Le Roy complied and removed the Crossed Swords that is on the base of this box.. crossed swords with an E and a C.. Choisy Le Roy is made of porcelain whereas Choisy Le Roi is not, though nice.
