This is a very old and beautiful obi (Japanese sash belt for kimono.) It is 130" long and 8-1/4" wide (or 16-1/2" when opened out). The main colors are a burnt orange/red and a pewter blue with lots of gold. It has about 14" of basting stitches along the middle seam with a pink fabric tag loosely sewn in. See photo. The writing is in English but looks like a Japanese name. There is a dark stain at the end that you can see in 2 photos. It is the size of a lentil. There are also a couple of rice sized loose threads or flaws in the weave. We have included in our photos pages from a wonderful book to show an example of how obis are used in home décor. As a piece of fabric, it is amazing.
