A very unusual late 19th century desk set comprising hinged boxes for glass ink vessels and a rocking ink blotter. The cunningly-crafted ink boxes open with hinges that rotate on wooden cylinders and function flawlessly to keep the ink from drying out, thus eliminating need of a stopper. Apart from one tiny chip on the corner of one lid and missing glass ink vessels, the set is in amazingly fine condition. The walnut burl glows warm and mellow and would look splendid on a man's desk!
Measures 17" wide, 9" deep, 4" high. The inkwells hold a round glass insert 1-1/4" diameter by 1" deep.
