Executed in Alpaca ("Mexican silver") inlaid with beautiful abalone shell with iridescent colors of green, blue and coral like a Tiffany stained glass, this large, circular pin/brooch measures 2" in diameter. The design, typical of the primitive shapes embraced by modernist artists of the time is abstract, yet almost "hieroglyphic".
Condition is excellent with some slight tarnish and wear that you would expect from an old piece. It has a good husky bale for wearing on a chain as a pendant, and very secure pin to use as a brooch. While not "Sterling", but a nickel-silver substitute favored by the Mexicans for their own use, old Alpaca pieces can be interesting and collectible in their own right
