Here is a really extraordinary hand pieced and quilted quilt that is as cheerful and charming as the day it was finished. The fine stitching and detail work is so impeccable it must have taken an eternity to create. Quilting stitches average 6 per inch and piecing over 20. Especially nice is the calico backing which enables it to be reversible! We're presuming is a whimsical rendition of "log cabins' and curiously, several of the green sawtooths around the squares faces the wrong way. Tired eyes? Who knows? (See photos). Colors are sunset gold, teal and purple. Reverse side is red calico with little yellow and white flowers.
The quilt measures 74-1/2" by 74-1/2" and all edges were frayed so had to be rebound. There was no other damage or repairs. All of the piecing and stitchery is sound with no stains. It is medium weight, suitable for three seasons. Created by Mrs. Beasley of Richmond, Virginia.
