Here are a hand-forged pair of scissors made by W.& S. Butcher, of Sheffield England during the mid-19th century. They are in very sound, tight condition and sharp enough to cut paper, although they were most likely for fabric (one blade square). There are no nicks in the blades and they meet with precision. Conspicuous evidence of hand-forging, filing and dressing of the steel. Nice period pair of scissors to round out the sewing box. 7-1/2" length.
