A delicate hand-painted rose pattern trimmed with gold highlighting adorns each of the pieces in this early 20th century Nippon marked mayonnaise set. The tiny ladle is undamaged, as is the three-footed bowl (save a couple of slight interruptions in the thin, black painted line near the rim). The liner plate has no cracks or chips but the faintest bit of gold rub on the outer edge. The bowl measures 5" diameter, and the liner 6-1/2".We are not certain about this pattern's name.
Because of the fragility it is very difficult to find a mayonnaise set this old that is as nice and intact.
