Leather Amish Bible in German with Copperplate Illustrations C. 1800
Large, full-calf bound family bible textually complete except for title page of old testament and whatever comes before it (blank pages for genealogy notations?). Published in Philadelphia by Kimber & Scharpless, Martin Luther translation. The leather binding is worn but intact. It had straps to close it with at one time but they're long gone. It looks like all the copperplate engravings are there. Minor foxing and discoloration throughout most of the volume and no significant staining, mildew or silverfish damage. It measures 7X11" and is 3-1/2" thick. The paper is early wove, not layed.
