Hughes who ran in the 1906 for Governor of New York state, won the bid, and served from Jan. 1 1907 to Oct. 6, 1910. Hughes won the Republican bid to run for the presidency in 1916, but lost to Democratic candidate, Woodrow Wilson. This button is in excellent condition, and it retains its original back paper makers insert. It was made by The Whitehead and Hoag Co. Newark, NJ.
