Here is a very nice ca. 1930's-1940's Major Bowes (Amateur Hour) Gong charm to add to your collection. It is being offered here by us for the first time. The Major Bowes Amateur Hour ran on four different radio stations from 1934-1952. When Bowes past away in 1946, we believe that Ted Mack, who was one of his main hosts of the show since the 1930's, took over his spot. Then in 1955, the TV version of the show became known as the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour. This charm? premium? might have either been a souvenir from one of his live shows that toured the country in 1938, or possibly a souvenir of one of his live radio shows in the 1930's or 40's. This is the first of its kind that we have ever seen, so we are not certain, of how it was obtained by its original owner. The charm is in excellent condition, and is marked sterling, with the initials T.D.G.
What that stands for, we are not sure, possibly the maker? Don't miss out on adding this great piece of earlier radio and TV history to your collection. We attempt to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions, so there are no surprises to the lucky buyer. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns that you may have. You will be answered in a timely manner. If asking on or near the weekend, give us a little more time to respond, as we may be away on business.
