Here is a very nice and early Oak Park (Chicago) Illinois Fire Department cap badge insignia to add to your collection. It was very recently acquired, and is being offered here for your approval by us for the first time ever anywhere. Oak Park (village) can boast, of having had a few well known people associated with it. Among them being, Ernest Hemingway, Doris Humphrey, and Edgar Rice Burroughs. Oak Park was part of Cicero, until it seceded from the township in 1902, incorporating itself into its own municipality. This cap badge has two metal loops where a thin solid piece of leather would go through both loops, to hold the badge onto the fireman's cap. Later on, the metal loops on these cap badges were replaced by a single center threaded post with an attachment disc holding the badge in place. This nice badge appears to be brass based, with a nickel plating, and measures 1-11/16" X 1-11/16." Don't miss out on adding this great piece of Chicago and or Fire related history to your collection. We attempt to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions, so there are no surprises to the lucky buyer. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns that you may have. You will be answered in a timely manner. If asking on or near the weekend, give us a little more time to respond, as we may be away on business.
