Here is a very nice and early Oak Park (Chicago) Illinois Fire Department badge to add to your collection. It was very recently acquired, and is being offered here for your approval by us for the first time ever anywhere. It shows a picture of an early 1900's horse-drawn steam-engine fire pumper. This was probably a similar type of pumper that this fire department was using at the time that this badge was worn by its original owner. Oak Park (village) can boast, of having a few well known people associated with it. Among them being, Ernest Hemingway, Doris Humphrey, and Edgar Rice Burroughs. Oak Park was part of Cicero, until it seceded from the township, incorporating itself into its own municipality. This nice badge appears to be brass based, with a nickel plating, and measures just over 2-1/4" in height, by 1-11/16: across its widest point. The pin and catch are both in good working order. Don't miss out on adding this great piece of Chicago and or Fire related history to your collection. We attempt to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions, so there are no surprises to the lucky buyer. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns that you may have. You will be answered in a timely manner. If asking on or near the weekend, give us a little more time to respond, as we may be away on business.
