Well pinback and or advertising collectors, here is an unusual piece to add to your collection. We have dealt with pinbacks for many years made by the Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, NJ, but this is the first of its kind that we have ever seen! We have had a few celluloid button clickers similarly made, but never a compact. This company from what we have gathered made buggies, carriages, sleighs, and cutters, at the time that this piece was given out. More than likely it was given out to a lady who purchased one of their products they made as a thank you. This piece is in excellent condition for its age. The tin lid still closes, and stays closed. There is very little signs of any rusting at all. The celluloid top surface has the usual fine surface scratches, but none to worry about. It has a patent date on the rim of July 21, 1896. This should be fairly close to the date of this piece, within a few years. It measures just about 1-1/4" across. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns. You will be answered in a timely manner.
