This is a well done hand painted souvenir spoon measuring 4-7/8" long.
It is stamped 800 on the back. The painting is superb and the enamel is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. The picture of the dying lion on the bowl is of the Lion Monument in Lucerne that was sculptured in the early 19th century. The actual monument has the dying lion laying upon the symbols of the French monarchy and the inscription translates in Latin "To the loyalty and courage of the Swiss" It was made to honor the memory of the Swiss Guardsmen who were killed during the French Revolution. It weighs 17.3gms.
