Here is a super cool and original 1954 New York Giants National League Champions pinback button that was made for the World Series of 1954 against the Milwaukee Braves. The Giants shutout the Braves 4-0, with four different lead off pitchers winning those games. 1954 was Johnny Antonelli's first year of pitching for the Giants. He had the best W & L and % record of his career, as well as the best in the League (21-7) and .750. Winning the 2nd game over future Hall of Fame star pitcher, Early Wynn who had a great year as well with a (23-11) record. Antonelli took the save in the 4th game as well against future Hall of Fame pitching star Bob Lemon who lost the 1st game too. Also strange as it may seem, leftfielder and pinch-hitter Dusty Rhodes, who played in 3 of the 4 games got to bat only 6 times had 4 hits, and 2 were home runs! Giving him the best batting average of the series at .667. Rhodes had his best year in 1954 hitting a .341 in his short 7 year career with the Giants. I guess timing is everything?
