Here is a very nice ca. 1910-1920 Rice & Hutchin's Educator Shoes (for children) Boston, Mass. advertising premium pinback button to add to your collection. It is being offered here for the first time by us. The company began with the partnership starting in 1866. In 1885 Mr. Hutchin's decided to retire from the company, and Mr. Rice's two sons entered, Harry Lee Rice and Fred Ball Rice assumed executive positions as vice president and secretary-treasurer of the company. The years between 1885 and 1909 were a period of great growth of the company. They expanded not only here in the US, but also abroad. The company continued in operation through most of the 1920s, but it was sold and the corporation was eventually dissolved by the Rice brothers (Harry & Fred) in 1929, as both were looking to retire from the business. This great advertising pinback is in excellent condition without any problems that we can find. We don't have a photo of it, but on the rim it states: Ehrman Mfg. Co. Boston. The pin attachment on the back has a most unusual bend to middle of it. This was done on purpose, we would assume so the button wouldn't come detached easily. It may have been an Ehrman Mfg. Company idea. This pinback button measures 1-1/4." Don't miss out on adding this great piece of a Shoe Company's history to your collection. We attempt to be as accurate as possible with our descriptions, so there are no surprises to the lucky buyer. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns that you may have. You will be answered in a timely manner. If asking on, or near the weekend, give us a little more time to respond, as we may be away on business. Also just to note, our shipping charges include insurance. We have had too many problems with the U.S. Postal service. We insure every package to protect both the buyer as well as us.
