Here is a very nice, Victorian period small chest brass and iron padlock to add to your collection. It is being offered here for the first time. We have been selling now for over 42 years, and this is the first of its kind that we have ever had for sale. This apparently is the original key. It came with the lock, and the key was attached to a brass pin, that was attached to the shackle/shank to keep them together so the key wouldn't get lost. We have not included a photo of this pin, but it will be included in the purchase. The lock opens by inserting the key and turning it right, clockwise. To re-lock it, you insert key and turn it left counter-clockwise. The shackle/shank is made of iron, while the body is made of brass. It has three stars stamped into the front body. Which may have been the makers logo/mark, but unfortunately it is not maker marked. We haven't clean this nice old piece, so we will leave that decision up to the lucky buyer. It is a small size padlock in excellent condition, and measures 1-3/4" in length by just about 1-1/4" across its widest point. Sorry, I forgot a photo of the thickness, it is 3/8" thick. Don't miss out on adding this very nice, and old padlock to your collection. Our photos should tell you just about all of the rest. Please email us with any questions or concerns that you may have. You will be answered in a timely manner. If asking on or near the weekend, give us a little more time to respond, as we may be away on business. Also just to note, our shipping charges include insurance. We have had too many problems with the U.S. Postal service. We insure every package to protect both the buyer as well as us.
